How To Turn 24

Hi everyone, I am gonna take a quick break from trip updates and pictures here to throw on some pics from almost a year ago when I turned 24! Time sure rips by, this seems like it just happened yesterday. I got my wisdom teeth taken out a day or two before this and was in rough shape but I turned it around when I showed up to the party and was greeted by getting iced by my friends Rumsey and Benny. Since I don't drink they simulated what it was like to get iced by giving me an entire pack of extra strength Dentyne Ice and a Sprite. I had to chew the entire pack up and then chug the Sprite. It wasn't very fun and felt really nice on my stiched together gums. We were leaving for our trip a few days after, so everyone seemed to be partying extra hard since it was one of the last times all my friends were going to get to hang with me before I left. By partying extra hard I mean getting blackout drunk before we even made it out of the house at about 9PM...We started the night off at "Moe Joes" nightclub which relocated from their previous spot in downtown Vernon to our living room, everyone enjoyed the drink specials they had on all night. After that we (the ones who hadn't passed out yet) made our way to the casino where my bud Tommy had a foolproof plan to win loads of cash playing roulette. The only problem was the foolproofness of his plan fooled him and he ended up being down like $800 bucks. Some of the friends didn't make it into the casino due to being to buggered up but we all met up again afterwards to head to Denny's for some tasty samplers. Everyone enjoyed their 5 star meal and some Bacardi Breezers before heading out to the bar where we danced the night away while Dave and Dirt performed some ultra sexy dance moves on the stripper pole in the back. Here are some flicks and I have some videos but they are taking a million years to upload so those might show up sometime later. Enjoy!

Failure

So despite my best efforts I was unable to finish updating this thing before I got back home, I failed you all. Since most of you have probably heard all my stories a thousand times by now and are sick of em, I'm gonna actually try my best to keep these short and just get some pics up on here. It's way better to hear me tell the stories in person too...isn't it?

Last time I left ya'll we were just leaving Thailand for a quick flight to Bali. We only spent a couple weeks in Bali which was a bit of a bummer cause it was so nice and easy to travel around that I woulda liked to stay a bit longer oh well though, at least we got to go! So we landed in Bali and made our way to Kuta which is another place people told us to steer clear of cause it is the super touristy part of Bali. We said fuck it and went there anyways. Glad we did. We spent the first couple days just cruising around the place getting bombarded by Balinese guys trying to sell us stuff talking in fake Australian accents, sounded very weird. We stayed at a real nice place with a pool, swim up bar and all that jazz. I swindled Brit into taking surfing lessons with me even though she didn't want too. The first hour or so was fun with the guys helping us get up and we both caught a few waves and rode around for a bit. After that they said the lesson was over but we could keep the boards another hour to do whatever we liked. Brit decided to call it a day and went back in to the hotel. I stayed out to try and get a bit better. I didn't know what I was doin so I asked my instructor where I should go. He told me to go deeper and try to catch bigger waves with some local guys. I probably shouldn't have cause the waves were huge but I guessed it was fine and headed out.
I pretty much just got ruined by the ocean for the next 10 minutes getting slammed around and almost drowning while managing to get in the way of all the surfers who actually had some skill. I stayed out a couple more minutes getting slammed around and eventually crawled out of the water with a surfboard that was now in two pieces. Not bad for 15 minutes of surfing. The scummy guys who rented it to me told me I had to pay for the board since I broke it, which was fair but they didn't tell me in advance and they were the ones who told me to go out to the big waves then probably had a good laugh when I got wrecked. I argued a bunch and eventually got them down from buying a new board to just paying $15 bucks to get this one fixed.

Brit and I went out partying a bit in Kuta at one of the zillion night clubs they have before taking off to our next stop which was Ubud. Along the way we met some fellow Canadians who were heading up there. We stayed at the same place as them and booked a bike ride tour thing for the next day. Ubud was different from the rest of Bali cause it is part of the mainland rather than on the coast. So instead of getting the nice beaches you get huge mountains, jungles and volcanoes. We hit up this bike tour thing which started at the top of a volcano and brought us all the way back to Ubud. Along the way we saw roosters training for cock fights, giant spiders, weasels making the world's most expensive coffee (by pooping it out), some rural Bali living, rice fields and learned to catch frogs. Pretty good ride. Once we got back we went to this monkey forest place where hundreds of monkeys hang out. I bought some bananas to give to them and got accosted by the little demons before I could get inside the gate. They pretty much robbed me and took all my bananas within a minute of buying them. Inside we got to get super close to the monkeys and saw them pickin each others butts, having wild monkey sex while another monkey was watching and jerkin it, and watched one monkey bite an Aussie guy's dick when he thought he was being so funny letting them crawl all over him.

From Ubud we caught a ride up to Lovina which is famous for its black sand beaches. The weather wasn't so good so we couldn't really enjoy them which was a bummer but instead we booked a dive trip to Menjangen (that spelling is probably really wrong) which is a bit further up the coast. We did the dive which was the best dive of our trip and got to eat lunch of some deserted island, bonus. The dive was rad cause we saw a buncha sharks, octopi, tons of colorful fish and huge walls of coral. You had to be there. After that we ripped down to some other Bali place and caught a boat out to the Gili Islands which are off the coast of Lombok (another Indonesian island). The ride there was brutal, the water was horribly rough and we were getting launched all around the boat and I almost threw up over everyone. Once we got there though we knew the trip was worth it cause the islands were gorgeous. Super small with no cars or traffic of any kind and you can just rent bikes or walk around the entire island in an hour or two. The beaches there were super nice and we just relaxed for a few days there. On the island we ran into a couple we met on the Gibbon experience back in Laos named Aly and Greg. We hung out with them a bunch and Brit partied with the booze a few times. The island was a real good time of just eating, drinking, swimming and relaxing in the sun. It was a sad day when we had to leave.

After we left from there we had a couple days to do some more stuff but didn't really know what we wanted to do. We were planning on staying in a place called Sanur for the two nights we had left but decided last minute to go back to Kuta so we could party some more. We stayed at another nice place with a pool and all that. We didn't do too much other than going out to night clubs and wandering around the city doing some shopping and that kinda stuff. We did treat ourselves to a nice meal one night though and went out to the Hard Rock cafe, which honestly wasn't all its cracked up to be. Our last day we got to the airport way to early and had to sit around waiting for our plane forever.

We got the plane for an excruciating journey to Panama. I dunno exactly how long the ride was but we had to fly from Bali to Tokyo then from Tokyo to Atlanta then Atlanta to Panama city. Each flight was super long and we had stop-overs in between each flight. It was horrid. I think it was something like 30 hours? A plus of the trip though was that we had about a 6 hour stop over in Tokyo. During that time we got a train ticket from the airport to take us downtown Tokyo. We wandered around there for awhile and I liked it so much that I was trying to talk Brit into skipping out on our flight to Central America and just staying in Japan for the rest of our trip. Eventually that idea got squished out cause our bags were already all checked and ready to head to Central America...not to mention our tickets were already booked and paid.

Japan seems slick though, in the few hours we were there we got to check out 15 story tall buildings that were devoted only to video games, saw lots of anime advertisements, ate ramen noodles, saw Japanese people walking around dressed in weird costumes and went into insane electronics stores. Unfortunately cause I'm stupid and lost one of our cameras we have no pictures to prove we were actually in Japan so you will all just have to trust me!

Bali was a cool place and I really wish we had more time there cause trying to squeeze everything in when you only have two weeks is tough, even though it is such a small island. Lots of the places there sounded so good but we just couldn't get there to check em out. Oh well though, it seems like that's how it's been for every place we went on the trip. We'll just have to do it again sometime and seem all the places we didn't get too! Then I can write more stories on here too! It's really a win-win for everyone involved.

So that's all she wrote for Bali, I hope this was short enough. No that I'm back I get to have people telling me to my face how long my blogs are and how they can only read like 4 lines of em before they get bored and just like to look at the pictures. So nice of them to let me know how long winded I am. Anyways, hope you all have a fun long weekend and if I haven't seen you yet since I been back...what the fuck why don't you come see me? Aren't you excited I'm back? Jesus, assholes.

Thanks for reading! Love yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa'll
